Market-Based Solutions to Fighting Poverty

CARE is pioneering a suite of inclusive, gender-based market approaches with a goal of improving the lives of 100 million people by 2030.

CARE Enterprises is the Impact Investing engine within this range of solutions.

The full suite of work includes:

Savings Groups

We help women join savings groups to help each other start businesses, send their kids to school and improve their families’ health.

Women’s Entrepreneurship

We help women business owners get more money and skills to grow their business. This helps them earn more money for their families for food, school, and health costs.

Social Businesses

We figure out how to do charity work, like providing water or medicine, as a business. That way people can buy water from a water company or medicine from a store instead of relying on water or medicine being donated to them.

Impact Investing

We raise money to invest in small businesses with women workers and customers, so that as the business grows, it helps improve the lives of women.

Agricultural Market Systems

We help farmers with small farms, about the size of a soccer field, get seeds, tools and loans to grow more food. We also help them sell extra food so they have more money.

Cash & Voucher Assistance

We give cash to families in emergencies, like floods or war, so they can buy what they need from local businesses.

Advisory Services

Food companies hire us to find out if women farmers are being hurt or being paid less than men. If they are, we tell the food company how to fix it.
